The NHL Hometown Remix jerseys are a special-edition alternate uniform program for all 32 NHL teams, designed by Fanatics with the league and each club and unveiled on November 2, 2026, with every design built around its city's landmarks, culture, and fans. Teams wear them in 261 games during the 2026-27 season, and Premium and Authentic Pro versions are on sale at NHLShop.com, NHLShop.ca, Fanatics.com, and team stores. Below, the Puck Drop Prints team ranks all 32 from ugliest to best, with the real hometown story behind each one.

How we ranked them
Full disclosure: this ranking is 100 percent the opinion of the Puck Drop Prints team, a bunch of hockey players and jersey nerds who argued about it way longer than a second intermission. We graded on three things: does it look good on the ice, does it actually tell a hometown story, and would we wear it to the rink. Every jersey here has real thought behind it, and every fan base is going to rep theirs proudly. That's the point. For the official photos and descriptions, see NHL.com's team-by-team breakdown. Want a second opinion? ESPN's Greg Wyshynski ranked them too, and we don't agree on everything.
Jersey photos come from official team posts on X, plus New Jersey Hockey Now for the Devils, embedded below. Hometown stories summarize the NHL.com descriptions (Nov 2, 2026) unless noted.
The ranking: #32 to #1
#32: Carolina Hurricanes
Our take: We love the Canes' swagger, but the storm grey base mutes the red and black that make a Raleigh game feel like a party. From the cheap seats it reads more practice jersey than special edition. Stormy getting the crest is a fun swing, so it's not all bad. It just landed last on our board.
The hometown story: A salute to Raleigh, the City of Oaks. Mascot Stormy is on the front crest for the first time, the shoulder patches draw on city architecture, the sleeves carry debossed oak leaves, and the hem shows a City of Oaks skyline, all on storm grey with red and black.
#31: Chicago Blackhawks
Our take: Green is a fan favorite and we get the hype. But with an entire city's worth of icons to pull from, this mostly feels like the regular sweater in a new color. Clean? Sure. Remixed? Barely.
The hometown story: The theme is progress, tied to 50 years since the Blackhawks wore the "I Will the Spirit of Chicago" motto on their home jersey. It's the team's first green game jersey, with the current logo, gold shoulder patches, and four debossed six-pointed stars from the city flag on each sleeve.
#30: New York Rangers
Our take: Lady Liberty over the heart and a captain's patch honoring first responders are classy touches. The stair-step "NEW YORK" lettering just doesn't hit like the traditional wordmark for us, and the whole look plays it a little safe for the biggest stage in hockey.
The hometown story: Built around the skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Silver accents come from the metalwork on the city's landmark towers, the sleeve stripes carry a debossed pattern from the torch base, Liberty's torches frame the city name on the hem, and the numbers are stair-step too.
#29: Vancouver Canucks
Our take: A stealth-mode orca sounds sick on paper. On the ice it's a lot of deep blue on deep blue, and the cool details fade from the cheap seats. Great concept, quiet execution.
The hometown story: Vancouver after dark. The crest is a stealth orca in deep blues with shining silver eyes, the sleeves carry an abstract deboss of the skyline reflecting in the bay, the hem nods to the lions guarding Lions Gate Bridge, and the numbers have a V notch detail.
#28: St. Louis Blues
Our take: Black base, river waves, Gateway Arch. All solid ideas, but stacked together it feels a little busy for a club whose Blue Note is already one of the cleanest crests in the league.
The hometown story: A tribute to the Arch and the Mississippi River. Black stands in for the river's dark waters, the updated crest is cut with three river wave lines, the sleeves carry a debossed wave pattern, the hem frames the city name from under the Arch, and beveled numbers echo its metallic finish.
#27: Boston Bruins
Our take: Varsity sweater vibes are fun, and going all brown is a bold call. It just reads more campus bookstore than rink to us. That said, somebody in your beer league is going to rock this and look great doing it.
The hometown story: Boston's college culture. The all-brown look nods to the team's inaugural season, the Bruins wordmark uses college-style lettering, the shoulder shield and split-color design come from campus wear, and a brick pattern on the hem calls out the Freedom Trail.
#26: Colorado Avalanche
Our take: Frosted silver and mountain elevation lines are a slick idea. The blue and white base just plays it safe, and it doesn't pop off the ice like Avs sweaters usually do.
The hometown story: The snow-covered Rocky Mountains. A mountain elevation pattern in graduating blues runs through the front crest and the back numbers, the shoulders get Rocky Mountain detail, and metallic silver on the sleeves and around the logos gives the whole thing a frosted look.
#25: Utah Mammoth
Our take: Stripes that form a full pair of rising tusks when your arms are down? That's a big-brain design move. The icy palette is crisp, but from a distance it lands a little plain.
The hometown story: Snow and high altitude. The U Tusk mark is the crest, the shoulder yoke and sleeve stripes carve out tusk shapes, snow shimmer debossing runs through the white stripes, the palette is Mountain Blue, Rock Black, and Salt White, and the Wasatch Range sits on the hem.
#24: Philadelphia Flyers
Our take: The detail work is outstanding, and the cracked numbers deserve a standing O. But a grey base for the orange and black? We missed the orange.
The hometown story: The Liberty Bell and the city's boxing heritage. Six sleeve stripes echo the Bell and mark the franchise's 60th anniversary, the Bell's inscription is debossed in the stripes, script from the U.S. Constitution frames the Bell and the date of Independence on the hem, marking 250 years of American history, and the numbers carry crack-inspired detail.
#23: New Jersey Devils
Our take: Black and red for The Black & Red is a strong mission statement, and freeing the NJ from its circle is cool. Overall, though, it sits pretty close to looks we've seen from the Devils before.
The hometown story: The team and its fans moving forward as one. The NJ crest is unleashed from its circle with the horns and tail in focus, the sleeve stripes get sculpted contours and debossing, embroidered spine detail ties back to the sleeves, and state outlines flank the New Jersey name inside the hem.
#22: Edmonton Oilers
Our take: Slick black with warning orange is a mood, and bringing back the oil rig worker patch is a great call. Black alternates are everywhere this year, though, so it doesn't stand out the way it could.
The hometown story: Oil Country grit. A sleek tonal crest and traditional striping let warning orange take center stage, "Oil Country" sits on the left shoulder with the oil rig worker on the right, and the hem reads "This is Oil Country" surrounded by warning bars.
#21: Calgary Flames
Our take: A whole jersey for the Saddledome's final season is a beautiful idea, and we respect it big time. The ceiling texture on the crest is a lot up close. Big heart, mixed execution.
The hometown story: The last year of Flames hockey in the Saddledome, home since 1983. The arena ceiling texture is on the "88 Gold" crest, the window shape is debossed into the sleeve stripes, the roofline shows up in the hem striping, the hem lists the old and new arena opening years, and the numbers carry the shutter texture.
#20: Buffalo Sabres
Our take: Royal blue and gold is gorgeous, and the debossed lightning bolts are a sneaky great detail. The crest and color mashup just doesn't fully click for us.
The hometown story: Buffalo, the City of Light. The crest is a bold Buffalo with a red eye and a metallic gold outline, the shoulder has the "B" logo intertwined with an electrified sabre, and the sleeves carry debossed lightning bolts and stars with gold and white stripes on deep royal blue.
#19: Ottawa Senators
Our take: Metallic gold lurex? Fancy. The bilingual shoulder patches are a top-shelf touch. It's sharp, just a little close to the current look.
The hometown story: Ottawa's Gothic architecture and craftsmanship. The crest gets brushed metallic gold, the geometric sleeve stripes come from city architecture, English and French logos sit on opposite shoulders, the river bridges to Gatineau frame the Ottawa wordmark on the hem, and the numbers mimic Gothic arched windows.
#18: Winnipeg Jets
Our take: Northern lights on a hockey sweater is a gorgeous concept, and the glowing names and numbers are wild. The gradient sleeves split our room, so it lands right in the middle.
The hometown story: The aurora borealis. New night-sky colors, a crest and jet that look lit by the northern lights, a blue to light green gradient on the sleeves, a full aurora scene on the hem, and names and numbers with a soft, blended glow.
#17: Dallas Stars
Our take: A neon Dallas wordmark on the hem? Love it. Black and green popping off white looks great on the ice, though it plays more like a turned-up version of what Dallas already wears than a full remix.
The hometown story: Dallas's lit skyline and neon energy. The front crest has a texture inspired by the skyline at night, the hem carries a linear neon-look Dallas wordmark, and the palette is black and green popping out of white.
Halfway there. Love the idea, but want it for your beer league? Design a remix-style jersey free in our customizer.

#16: Columbus Blue Jackets
Our take: The arched sleeve stripes look strong on grey, the first time Columbus has used it as a base color, according to ESPN. And the "5th Line" shout-out on the hem is exactly the kind of fan love we're here for.
The hometown story: The Arch City. Arched sleeve stripes with a debossed filigree pattern behind the sleeve numbers, a solid grey base, the cannon crest and numbers outlined in white, and an italic "5th Line" graphic on the hem honoring the fans.
#15: New York Islanders
Our take: The Fisherman is back, and we're here for it. The cleaned-up crest is the best version of that logo yet, and the hidden LI and NY in the lighthouse patches are a chef's kiss.
The hometown story: Long Island's coast. A streamlined fisherman crest, wavy sleeve stripes echoing the Atlantic, updated lighthouse shoulder patches with LI on one side and NY on the other, a wave pattern framing Long Island, New York on the hem, and numbers with subtle fisherman hook details.
#14: San Jose Sharks
Our take: Scuba Blue is fresh, the SJ crest has real attitude, and shark teeth on the sleeves are pure fun. Bold swings earn points on our board, and this is a bold swing.
The hometown story: The pregame Sharks Head and the energy of the Shark Tank. The SJ mark sits front and center with a shark swimming between the letters, the sleeve stripes lean into shark teeth (pink gums included), and "Shark Tank" is framed by the chomped stick on the hem.
#13: Seattle Kraken
Our take: The anchor logo up front looks iconic, and scrimshaw embroidery on a hockey sweater is a flex. Mt. Rainier on the sleeves seals the deal.
The hometown story: Maritime Seattle. A nautical scrimshaw design, the anchor logo on the front crest, a name and number system with scrimshaw embroidery, Mt. Rainier and the mountain landscape on the sleeves, and rhododendrons on the hem.
#12: Los Angeles Kings
Our take: Royal purple and a Hollywood serif font? Showtime. The palm-tree pinstripes on the sleeves hide "L.A." too, and that's the kind of Easter egg that makes jersey nerds happy.
The hometown story: L.A. street and art culture, plus 60 years of Kings hockey. The crest has a Hollywood-inspired serif font, a purple crown outline, and pinstripes, the sleeves carry debossed palm trees, and six diamonds inside stand for six decades.
#11: Minnesota Wild
Our take: A crescent moon in the crest instead of the sun? Big fan. Black is a popular call this year, but the constellations and twin stars make this one feel like a night on the pond.
The hometown story: Minnesota's night skies and the State of Hockey. The crest gets a crescent moon on a black base, the sleeves carry debossed Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, twin stars in the numbers stand for the Twin Cities, and the hem honors the state's wilderness.
#10: Tampa Bay Lightning
Our take: The Stadium Series skull up front, now missing a tooth, is peak hockey. Sky Blue on black is a vibe. A top-10 lock for us.
The hometown story: Fan-favorite Lightning looks, remixed. The skull moves to the crest, Sky Blue returns on a black base with hits of Lightning Blue, the sleeve bolts come back in cut-and-sew, the Stadium Series numbers go Sky Blue, and the Bayshore Balustrade sits inside the hem.
#9: Toronto Maple Leafs
Our take: The remixed original leaf with etched veins is beautiful, and "Toronto Forever" on the hem is the right touch for a 100-year milestone. Classy and timeless, which is exactly the Leafs move.
The hometown story: 100 years of Maple Leafs history. The original logo is remixed with tonal vein details and an arched Toronto wordmark, the leaf vein pattern runs through the sleeve stripes and numbers, and the hem carries "Toronto Forever" framed by leaf logos from across the team's history.
#8: Detroit Red Wings
Our take: "Hockeytown" across the chest. That's the take. You don't mess with the Winged Wheel, and they didn't. The purple octopus tucked in the hem is the perfect wink.
The hometown story: Hockeytown tradition. The Red Wings logo is combined with "Hockeytown" across the chest, the sleeves get bold striping, and the purple octopus is tucked inside the hem as a nod to one of the city's most beloved traditions.
#7: Washington Capitals
Our take: The Capitol dome crest is a throwback banger, and the marble texture on the yoke is a big swing that we think connects. Cherry blossoms on the hem bring that spring hockey energy.
The hometown story: D.C.'s monuments. The Capitol dome crest mixes stars, sticks, and the Statue of Freedom, sublimated marble texture on the sleeves and yoke echoes the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial, the numbers are etched and beveled, the screaming eagle returns on the shoulders, and cherry blossoms line the hem.
#6: Montreal Canadiens
Our take: Making a white jersey interesting is really hard. Montreal pulled it off. The flag symbols on the sleeves and the stonework texture in the crest are elite storytelling.
The hometown story: Montreal's cultures, past and present. White pine, fleur de lys, rose, thistle, and clover run down the sleeves, the crest has etched detailing for the city's stonework, the side panels carry a Mount Royal gradient, four fleurs de lys bookend the city name on the hem, and the numbers draw on Old Montreal.
#5: Anaheim Ducks
Our take: 90s green and gold with the flying V on the sleeves? Fly together, boys. It's a nostalgia rocket, and "Orange Country" on the hem is a perfect wink.
The hometown story: The good life of Orange County. Green for the parks, gold for the sunsets over the water, a wave pattern on the hem for the waterfront lifestyle, "Orange Country" stitched in as a play on words, and the flying V sleeve design from the current home jersey.
#4: Vegas Golden Knights
Our take: Casino felt jade, roulette sleeves, playing-card numbers. Vegas finally went all in on being Vegas, and the bet pays out.
The hometown story: Casino culture. The yoke has a jade texture inspired by casino felt with card suits worked in (jade is a first for the NHL, per NHL.com), the sleeves carry a roulette pattern, a debossed Vegas wordmark, and gold stripes, the numbers use a playing-card typeface, and the hem reads since 2017.
#3: Nashville Predators
Our take: Honky-tonk stagewear on a hockey sweater should not work this well. Navy, tonal filigree, an iris on the sleeve. This one belongs on Broadway on a Saturday night.
The hometown story: Country stagewear and rodeo tailoring. The crest has tonal filigree, the sleeves carry yoke detailing and lower filigree with an iris for Tennessee, matching filigree frames the city name on the hem, and letterpress-inspired numbers are embroidered with tonal filigree.
#2: Pittsburgh Penguins
Our take: Pop art Pens are literally a work of art. Halftone dots and offset outlines give the crest motion, and the borough colors on the hem read like a love letter to the city. So close to No. 1.
The hometown story: 60s pop art. The crest gets a pop art treatment with offset outlines and halftone texture, the shoulder patches show the igloo for the old arena and a triangle for the Three Rivers, the hem represents the city's boroughs in bright colors, and the numbers match the halftone look.
#1: Florida Panthers
Our take: Coral. In the NHL. On a team that plays as hard as anybody in the league. It's bold, it's fun, it looks like a sunrise printed on your favorite beach tee, and it's the best jersey in the program. Our No. 1, no debate.
The hometown story: A South Florida sunrise, fitting for a team that plays in Sunrise, Florida. The crest remixes the throwback stick and palm tree patch logo in front of a sunrise, the palette is coral, orange, yellow, and navy (coral is a first for the NHL, per NHL.com), and the sleeves carry the 90s sunrise pattern.
Price and where to buy
According to CNBC, a Premium Hometown Remix jersey runs $275 and an Authentic Pro (the version players wear on the ice) runs $500, both quoted with custom lettering and numbering. Prices can vary by retailer, and Fanatics told CNBC supply is limited.
Both versions went on sale November 2, 2026, at NHLShop.com, NHLShop.ca, Fanatics.com, team stores, and the NHL Shop NYC flagship, along with hoodies, tees, fleece, outerwear, and headwear for men and women (NHL.com). Team store stock can be tight: the Golden Knights said their stores had a limited supply of adult and youth sizes on launch day.
When teams wear them
Florida (vs. Detroit), Chicago (vs. Colorado), and San Jose (vs. Calgary) wore them first on November 2, 2026. In 2026-27, 261 games feature a team in Hometown Remix, and 19 have both teams in them. Each team wears them several times, so check your team's site. Vegas, for example, wears them five times, starting November 15 against Vancouver. For now, the program is set for this season only (ESPN, CNBC), though the NHL told CNBC teams could carry design elements into future alternates. Nothing is promised.

Hometown Remix FAQ
What are the NHL Hometown Remix jerseys?
They're a special-edition alternate uniform program for all 32 NHL teams, designed by Fanatics with the NHL and each club. Each jersey celebrates its city's landmarks, culture, and fans, with hidden details like debossed patterns and hem graphics. It launched November 2, 2026.
When were the Hometown Remix jerseys released?
The NHL and Fanatics unveiled the jerseys on November 2, 2026, and they went on sale that day. The Florida Panthers, Chicago Blackhawks, and San Jose Sharks were the first teams to wear them in games that night, after weeks of leaks.
Which Hometown Remix jersey is the best?
It's a matter of taste. The Puck Drop Prints team ranks the Florida Panthers' coral sunrise jersey No. 1, with Pittsburgh, Nashville, Vegas, and Anaheim rounding out our top five. ESPN's ranking put Pittsburgh first. Pick the one that feels most like your hometown.
Where can I buy a Hometown Remix jersey?
You can buy Hometown Remix jerseys on NHLShop.com, NHLShop.ca, Fanatics.com, at team stores, and at the NHL Shop NYC flagship store. Premium and on-ice Authentic Pro versions are available. Some team stores have limited supply, so check early for your size.
How much do Hometown Remix jerseys cost?
According to CNBC, Premium jerseys cost $275 and Authentic Pro jerseys, the same version players wear on the ice, cost $500. Both prices were quoted with custom lettering and numbering. Prices may vary by retailer, and Fanatics described the collection as limited supply.
How many games will teams wear Hometown Remix jerseys?
The NHL says 261 games in the 2026-27 season will feature at least one team in its Hometown Remix uniform, including 19 games where both teams wear them. Each team wears its jersey several times, so check your team's website for dates.
Will Hometown Remix jerseys be worn next season?
For now, the program is planned for the 2026-27 season only. The NHL has said teams could carry logos, colors, or other parts of the designs into future alternate jerseys, and another league-wide program is being considered. Nothing has been announced.
How is Hometown Remix different from Reverse Retro?
Reverse Retro, made by Adidas in 2020 and 2022, remixed each team's past jerseys and colors. Hometown Remix, designed by Fanatics in 2026, looks forward and builds each design around the team's city, local culture, and fans rather than the team's jersey archive.
Can I get a remix-style jersey for my own hockey team?
Yes. Puck Drop Prints designs custom team jerseys for free. Make a logo with an AI logo generator, pick a remix-style pattern in our customizer, and we take it from there. Sublimated kits are $100 per player for 6+ players, logos and customization included.
How long does a custom team jersey take from Puck Drop Prints?
Sublimated jerseys from Puck Drop Prints take 4 to 5 weeks in production, plus 3 to 5 days for shipping. Design is free, so start in our customizer early and plan backward from your season opener or next tournament date.
